ARCHITECTURAL STYLE

The Rest Eco & Nature Estate, over 320 hectares in size, is uniquely positioned on a varied landscape, demanding a design that accommodates the natural environment. In keeping with the local character of the natural surroundings, the architectural theme of The Rest is derived from a contemporary mix of local vernacular and international styles, resulting in a response to local climatic and aesthetic directives using natural materials and earth colours in harmony with the scenic surroundings. The theme is proudly South African.

The Rest Estate will be divided into five architectural areas, referred to as neighbourhoods which will fall into four development phases. The architectural style of each will be different. The goal is to supply a mix of modern architecture whilst preserving the inherent beauty of the site.
